7 Reasons Why Our Cleaners are Happy

(And why that’s good for you, too!)

Cleaning can be a thankless job and, historically, professional cleaners have had to endure a bad combination of difficult working conditions and low wages. That’s one reason we’re reimagining home cleaning. Our cleaners are happy because we offer an excellent environment that promotes dignity, job satisfaction, health, and growth. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect while making enough money to live on. And as a bonus, we find that happy cleaners mean better home cleaning for you!

We have identified seven key reasons our cleaners are satisfied and happy working for WeClean. These reasons are:

#1: Paying a Living Wage

We start all of our cleaners at $20 or more per hour (depending on where they live) and pay them based on their performance. They receive increases every six months if they earn high ratings from our clients. Paying our cleaners what they are worth helps them understand how much we value them, which helps them stay motivated to do a great job for our clients.

#2: Offering Flexible Scheduling and Time Off

Employees today are looking for flexible schedules. Our cleaners are no different… they select their own schedules which allows them to take care of other needs in their lives – whether it be another job, family concerns or hobbies and interests.  Our cleaners also tell us if they want to work part-time or full-time.

We also offer our cleaners the chance to take themselves off our schedule whenever they need a break throughout the year. Whether it’s for an overdue vacation or time to take care of a sick loved one, we support them in their need for time away from work.  And we don’t limit how much time they can take – we just ask for advance notice, when possible.

#3: Recognizing Our Cleaners as Valued Team Members

WeClean would not exist without our cleaners. We treasure each of our cleaners and recognize them as valued members of our team. We respect and honor their opinions and actively listen to their needs. We work hard to solve any issues they have on or off the job that might be affecting their happiness or performance.

#4: Using Eco-Friendly Products

Most professional cleaners use harsh chemicals to make your home beautiful. Whether it is bleach, harsh carpet stain removers, or disinfectants, cleaning people are exposed to a huge range of toxic chemicals… and so are you! These chemicals can adversely affect overall health, causing a range of problems from asthma to headaches to anxiety.

We recognize these health hazards, so we ask our professional cleaners to only use environmentally friendly products. We have a long history of using safe, natural alternatives that still get the job done. By using only eco-friendly products, our cleaners stay healthy, as do our clients, and the environment!

#5: Paying Our Cleaners to Volunteer

WeClean is a community-driven company that gives back to each local region we work in. Not only do we give back 1% of our sales (not our profits!) to local charities, we also encourage our cleaners to help their communities. That’s why we offer two hours a week of paid time for volunteering. Our cleaners choose a non-political, non-profit organization they want to help, and we pay them to do so.

#6: Providing Comprehensive Support

We recognize that cleaning our clients’ homes is not easy. It can be physically and mentally demanding. That’s why we have extensive support for our cleaners in the field.

First, we offer a support line they can call to get advice about any challenge that arises on the job. This number is available to them seven days a week. Second, we offer a Quality Care Specialist who supports them in the field, making their job easier. Third, because we have a full-time Client Relationship Specialist who works with clients to ensure they are always satisfied, our cleaners can focus on what they do best – offering you a super clean home.

#7: Advancing the Careers of our Cleaners

Our strong team of managers at WeClean include veteran cleaners who worked their way up the ranks. We understand the need for managers who know first-hand what it is like to clean people’s homes. That’s why we promote cleaners to management positions.

If a cleaner at WeClean proves themselves in the field and has exceptional communication and organizational skills, they can advance into a management position. Promoted cleaners typically transition into Trainer or Quality Assurance Specialist positions. Advancement from within is a top priority at WeClean.
